Bakersfield Baby Bump Photography
Avoiding the cliche look of the almond orchards that so many Bakersfield photographers try to capture creates creative challenges. This Bakersfield baby bump photograph was done in an almond orchard with all the white blossoms, but in a way to reduce the over used look. First of all, it is necessary to get permission to photograph in almond orchards because they are private property. Second, a respect for the trees is critical as this is the livelihood of the farmers. This particular maternity photo was done on an 85mm prime lens, which allowed for a nice bokeh and forces the viewer’s eye to the subject of the frame. Hands are such an important part of maternity photos. The hands show a connection between the mother and child and cause the viewer to look at the belly. Second, the hands are symbolic of how the mother will hold the newborn. You can see another maternity photograph from this session too.
